Dr. Closson was born in Washington, DC and raised in Columbia, MD. He has strong ties to the area having attended Centennial High school in Ellicott City, MD and then The Johns Hopkins University where he received a BA in biology. He attended the Medical College of Pennsylvania, and then completed a General Surgery Internship at St. Agnes Hospital. Dr. Closson's fellowship in interventional pain management was at the University of Maryland Dept. of Anesthesiology. For the last 3 and 1/2 years, he has been an attending anesthesiologist and interventional pain management specialist at the University of Maryland Dept. of Anesthesiology and The Kernan Hospital Pain Management Center treating a wide variety of pain syndromes. He has given numerous lectures on low back pain, complex regional pain syndrome, spinal cord and peripheral stimulation. Dr. Closson is married and has two children. He enjoys all sports, especially track and field, football, basketball and golf. He is a member of the following organizations:American Medical Association
