Will my insurance pay for your services?
We participate with most health insurance carriers providing coverage in Maryland
and the surrounding states including Workers' Compensation. In the event we don't
participate with your health insurance plan you may be able to see one of our physicians
using your out of network plan. Our insurance coordinator specialists in each of
our centers will be able to assist you with your questions regarding benefit coverage
for your health insurance plan.
I have had to wait several months to see other specialists - how long is the
waiting list to see one of your physicians?
We have centers in Baltimore, Bel Air, Bowie, Columbia, Frederick, Glen Burnie, Hagerstown and Rockville.
Our goal is to offer you an appointment within one week. The first visit for some
patients may be dependent upon your health insurance plan's preauthorization process.
What type of care can I expect?
Patients can expect a thorough medical history,
comprehensive physical examination and review of past diagnostic studies prior to
a pain specific evaluation and development of an effective and appropriate treatment
plan. Timely follow-up visits are planned allowing frequent monitoring and rapid
treatment adjustments.
I am not familiar with your physicians - who is your "best" doctor?
Our physicians, distinguished by years of specialty training and practice in pain management, are
nationally recognized as leaders in the field of pain management. They are fellowship
trained and board certified/board eligible pain practitioners. Our physicians work
together as a group, not as individuals, and each of our patients benefit from the
experience of all ten of our physicians. Whether you select a physician or ask
us to select one for you, each patient works with one physician directed team to
ensure continuity of care and to maximize treatment outcomes. We want to assure
you that you will receive the very best care from each and every one of our physicians.
Will my insurance cover everything?
We have insurance coordinator specialists available
in each of our centers to assist you with your questions regarding co-payments,
annual deductibles and out of network benefits as well as questions about durable
medical equipment and prescription medications. However, each insurance carrier
offers several different benefit plans. We encourage you to obtain complete information
from your health insurance administrator before making health care decisions based
on insurance coverage.
My co-worker is seeing a pain management doctor. She has her office visits in his
office, but her treatments are scheduled on a different day at an "outpatient ambulatory
surgery center" located at the hospital on the other side of the city. How far will
I have to travel from your office to the outpatient ambulatory surgery center?
All of our patient care is delivered in one setting. Our physicians' offices and our
ambulatory surgery centers are under the same roof at each of our seven locations.
When medically appropriate, our patients enjoy the convenience of a follow-up visit
and treatment in a single visit at one location.
Are there any instructions I need to follow if I am having a procedure?
Yes. Our staff will review your pre-procedure instructions at the time you schedule your
appointment. Some general guidelines for all patients scheduled for a procedure
are you should discontinue any medications containing aspirin and/or any anti-inflammatory
medications for 5 to 7 days prior to your appointment and you must bring someone
with you to drive you home. If you are taking any blood thinners such as Coumadin,
Plavix, Ticlid or Lovenox, please contact our office for additional instructions.
We will also ask that you not eat or drink for several hours prior to your procedure,
but this time frame will vary and you should contact our office for your specific
instructions.
